About the book

The Passage opens in 2016 with a secret government project that transports death row inmates to a military compound in Colorado. There, they are given an experimental drug derived from a virus carried by bats in South America, which is meant to prolong human life. Federal agent Brad Wolgast is ordered to bring a six-year-old girl, Amy Bellafonte, from a convent to the project's director. The story then spans more than ninety years, following a world overrun by virus-infected, blood-hungry creatures and the walled colonies of survivors in California. Documents, emails and journal entries help tell it.
