About the book
It was easy to fool one of the Lindleys. Stage glasses and a severe hairdo had tricked Gregory Lindley into thinking that Margret was right for the job of housekeeper-governess. Maybe it was because he never really looked at her. Which was fine. Margret couldn't help feeling sorry for her employer. His not very happy marriage had ended with the death of his wife, and now he was having to cope with two young children. The obvious solution to his problems was for him to marry again - and who more suitable, thought Margret, than Laura Spencer whom he loved anyway?
